Toddler Program: 14 Months to 3 Years

Children generally enter the Toddler Room between the ages of 14 and 18 months. They stay in this program until they are at least 32 months. The time spent in this room allows them to develop a secure bond with their teachers. It also allows the young toddlers to learn from their older peers. The older toddlers are given the opportunity to be leaders to the youngest students. Our Toddler Program aims to promote independence, communication skills, recognition of emotions, and a love for learning.

Toddlers are given the opportunity to engage in open-ended play in various learning areas throughout the classroom, such as dramatic play, blocks, art, manipulatives, sensory, and library. The teachers lead a brief circle time each morning that includes a story, music, and whole body movement. The teachers also provide small group and large group lessons and activities that are designed with each child’s individual development in mind. A large portion of the day is spent outside to give toddlers the time they need to practice gross motor and social skills, while exploring the world around them.

The Toddler Program also provides ample time for toilet training so that children can progress to the Preschool Program when they are ready to do so.
